Pearl Harbour bombing-70 years.

On 7th December the United States commemorates the bombing of Pearl Habour by the Japanese, the reason America got involved in the second world war.This year marks the 70th anniversary. More than 2,400 Americans died from that surprise attack that occured in 1941 damaging eight of Hawaiian  naval base's battle ships.Speaking to a BBC reporter, Robert Van Druff, who witnessed the attack as a 22-year-old serving on the USS Aylwin. He was reading a Popeye comic at the time the first bombs were dropped and recalls thinking at first that there had been a fire on a nearby ship.

 The ban on Japanese-American in the US military was then imposed. Senator Daniel Inouye, a Democrat from Hawaii, helped treat Pearl Harbour's wounded. Once the ban on Japanese-Americans in the US military was lifted he went on to serve with distinction and is now the longest-sitting member of the United States Senate.
